Rockbridge Area YMCA Facility Move FAQs

 

Why is the Rockbridge Area YMCA moving?

Our current lease is ending, and we are relocating to a new space so that we can continue serving members without interruption.

When is the move happening?

The planned move date is December 2026. More details will be shared as we get closer to the transition.

Where is the YMCA moving?

Will there be a gap in service during the move?

Our goal is to keep any service disruption minimal. If there is modified access or hours during move-in week, we will communicate them clearly in advance.

Will all equipment and programs move to the new location?

Yes! We will be updating equipment and renovating the space with new flooring, lighting etc. Our priority is maintaining:

• A strong wellness experience
• Group exercise opportunities
• Youth and family programming
• A welcoming community atmosphere

Will there still be group exercise classes?

Yes, group exercise will continue. Class schedules may shift based on space availability, and we will share updated schedules prior to opening.

Will there still be childcare/Stay and Play? 

Yes. Stay and Play will be available at the new location. All Early Learning Center Childcare offerings will remain unaffected by the move. 

Will there be locker rooms and showers?

This depends on YOU. Please take our survey to specify what amenities you wish to have in this new space. 

Will membership rates change because of the move?

At this time, there are no immediate changes planned to membership rates due to the temporary relocation. If anything changes, members will be notified well in advance.

Will hours of operation change?

Hours will remain the same.

Will there be enough parking?

Yes, parking will be available at the new location. Additional details will be provided closer to opening.

Will 24-Hour Access be available in the new space?

Yes, 24-Hour Access will remain unaffected. 

How will the YMCA decide what amenities go into the new space?

Members will receive a survey to share feedback on what features and amenities matter most. We want our members to help guide how we best use the Stonewall Square space.

What types of amenities might be added or improved?

This depends on YOU. Please take our survey to specify what amenities you wish to have in this new space. 

Will the YMCA still offer financial assistance?

Yes. The YMCA remains committed to serving the entire community. Financial assistance will continue to be available for those who qualify.

How will members stay informed?

Members will receive regular updates through:

• Email
• YMCA website updates
• Social media
• Signage in the facility
• Staff communications

What does this mean for the long-term future of the Rockbridge Area YMCA?

This move is a short-term step that helps us continue serving the community while we plan for a future, expanded facility. We will share more about long-term plans as details are finalized.
