Steve Bailey and Kerry Morris were the kind of people who made life better just by being in it. They were best friends, longtime YMCA members, and well-known for their big hearts, steady kindness, and willingness to lend a hand whenever it was needed.
The Steve R. Bailey and Kerry P. Morris Y Splash Endowment is a tribute to two friends who lived with generosity, laughter, and heart. A promise that their legacy will continue through the children whose lives will be made safer through Y Splash.
After Steve and Kerry’s passing, their families established this endowment in their memory to help ensure more children can gain life-saving water safety skills through Y Splash.

Y Splash is provided at no cost to students and families, thanks to the generosity of donors and community partners. But the need for water safety education continues to grow.
This endowment helps ensure Y Splash remains sustainable at the Botetourt Family YMCA long into the future by creating permanent funding that supports:
- Water safety instruction for second graders
- Pool time and aquatics staffing
- Transportation support for participating schools
- Take-home safety materials for families
- Follow-up swim lessons for non-swimmers
