YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge Launches New Early Learning Center at Kirk Family YMCA; Enrollment Now Open
ROANOKE, Va. (July 1, 2026) — The YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge is expanding its early childhood education offerings with the launch of a new Early Learning Center at the Kirk Family YMCA in downtown Roanoke. The preschool program is the first full-day early learning option of its kind at the facility and will begin serving families at the start of the 2026-2027 school year, which starts Aug. 11.
"The demand for quality childcare continues to grow in our community," said Alicia Kindred, Childcare Director for the YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge and Branch Executive Director at the Kirk Family YMCA. "The new preschool will provide children with a strong foundation for kindergarten while giving families access to a trusted, affordable option."
The program will focus on kindergarten readiness, social-emotional development and hands-on learning in a structured classroom environment. Children will participate in age-appropriate activities designed to support cognitive, physical and social growth.
The Early Learning Center will be located at the Kirk Family YMCA in downtown Roanoke, 520 Church Ave., Roanoke, Va. 24016, and will serve children ages 3 years old. Tuition is $190 per week for Kirk Family YMCA members and $210 per week for nonmembers. DSS and Financial assistance is available for qualifying families.
Enrollment is now open for the 2026-2027 school year, and space is limited. Families interested in learning more about the Early Learning Center or scheduling a tour are encouraged to contact the Kirk Family YMCA.
