Botetourt Family YMCA Welcomes Becky Stackhouse as New Branch Executive Director
Botetourt, VA (Dec 17, 2025) — The Botetourt Family YMCA is excited to welcome Becky Stackhouse as its new branch executive director. Stackhouse brings a wealth of experience and a passion to this new role.
“Becky has spent her career serving others, and that spirit comes through immediately,” said YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge CEO and President, Mark Johnson. “We’re excited to welcome her to the Y and to see the impact she’ll have.”
Stackhouse brings more than three decades of leadership experience in health care and public service, most recently serving as executive director and CEO of the Salem VA Health Care System. In that role, she oversaw complex operations, led large multidisciplinary teams, and guided the organization through periods of growth, change and crisis, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
She joined the YMCA following her retirement from federal service, drawn to the Y’s mission and its role in strengthening community well-being across all ages.
“When I learned more about the Y’s work, it felt like a natural next chapter,” Stackhouse said. “This role allows me to continue serving the community, just in a different way; one that brings people together around health, connection and belonging.”
A resident of Daleville since 2020, Stackhouse said Botetourt County reminds her of her hometown in Michigan and values the close-knit nature of the community. Since stepping into the role, she has been struck by the scope of programs offered at the Botetourt Family YMCA and the interactions that happen across generations.
“I’ve loved seeing seniors and young adults competing in pickleball, children in the Early Learning Center connecting with active older adults, and members supporting one another throughout the facility,” she said. “There’s a real sense of community here, and it’s something special.”
As branch executive director, Stackhouse oversees operations at the Botetourt Family YMCA, including staff and volunteer development, programs, member engagement and community partnerships. She also works closely with the advisory board to support the Y’s long-term impact in Botetourt County, which was recently recognized by the Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce as Nonprofit of the Year.
