Facility Notice: Salem and Kirk Family YMCA

Salem Family YMCA Closed on March 7-8, 2026

The Salem Family YMCA will host the Piedmont YMCA Swim Meet on March 7-8, and only 24-Hour Access will be open. Some areas of the Y will be closed beginning on Friday, March 6 to prepare for the meet:
  • The Wellness Center will remain open on Friday, March 6 until our usual closing time. After closing on Friday, the Wellness Center will be open to 24-Hour Access members ONLY until our regular opening time on Monday, March 9 at 5:00 am. All other areas of the Y will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, March 7-8.
  • Group Exercise Classes are canceled for the weekend beginning at 1:30 pm on Friday, March 6.
  • The Basketball Gymnasium and Group Exercise Studios will be closed on Friday, March 6 at 1:30 pm throughout the weekend.
  • Stay and Play will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, March 7-8.
  • The Lap Pool will be closed beginning at 1:30 pm on Friday.
  • The Family Pool will remain open on Friday, but will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, March 7-8.
  • Riptides Swim School swim lessons will be held as usual on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Please visit our YMCA at Tanglewood, Kirk Family YMCA, Botetourt Family YMCA, or YMCA Express at Gainsboro during this time.

Basketball Make-Up

Basketball will be made up on Sunday, March 1 from 1-3pm

Swim Lessons Update During Spring Break

There will be no swim lessons during Spring Break, from Sunday, March 22 through Saturday, March 28. Lessons will resume on Sunday, March 29.

24-Hour Access Limited: March 14–15

From Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 6:00 pm until Sunday, March 15, at 1:00 pm, 24-hour access will be limited.

The hallway floors and track are being waxed overnight and will not finish drying until Sunday at 1:00 pm.

During this period, 24-hour access members will be restricted to the Wellness Center only. Please note that there will be no restroom or water fountain access during this time.

Kirk Family YMCA Policy Update

Starting March 8:

Non-members ages 16 and under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian while using the facility.
